In a year of pandemic and political crisis, Mix Literário enters its third edition, as part of the programming of the 28th Mix Brasil Festival of Cultural Diversity, adapting to this new conjuncture of social isolation and resisting the Brazilian cultural dismantling marked by a LGBTQIAphobic politics, proposing meetings and creative agendas that increasingly link the interests of our community to a literary art committed to the complexities of a world in a rapidly reconfiguration process.

Mix Literário Award, in this second edition, it also welcomes male and female authors from other Portuguese-speaking countries, who can also be awarded with the celebrated Silver Rabbit of the Festival. BOOK LAUNCH AND DEBATE: “VULGAR” BY ANDRÉ MEDEIROS MARTINS
NOV 12 » 5pm @ Youtube MixBrasil 🤟

Featuring André Medeiros . Mediation: Alexandre Rabelo

“Vulgar” is an anthology book gathering images of 190 people portrayed for a project of nude and/or explicit sex, and texts written by 45 people on fetishization, abjection, pornography, error, interdiction and cancelling. Did you know that the pupil, like the asshole, is a sphincter, but of involuntary control? The eye, by adjusting the width of its hole, regulates the amount of light that invades its hollow interior and thus creates images. This book intends to unite scopophilia – the process of eroticizing the gaze – with the production of literature through sexual contra-disciplines.

DEVIANT BRAZILIAN QUEER DYSTOPIAS AT THE END OF THE WORLD
NOV 13 » 5pm @ Youtube MixBrasil 🤟

Featuring Luisa Geisler, Wallace Ramos . Mediation: Alexandre Willer

A fatal disease ravages Brazil and turns it into a post-apocalyptic land: there’s no government, laws or hope. The survivors try to cross the country
in search of a safe haven. This is the plot of “Corpos secos” (Dried bodies), dystopia that Natalia Borges Polesso and Samir Machado sign with Luisa Geisler, an author from Canoas, Rio Grande do Sul, twice winner of the Sesc Award (a private organization supported by entrepreneurs in businesses, tourism and services) and finalist of the Jabuti Award (a well-known literary award in Brazil).

Wallace Ramos, a carioca from the community of Maré, is an artist and researcher at the Federal University of the State of Rio de Janeiro (Unirio) and at Casa de Rui Barbosa. In his literary debut, “Frontispício” (Frontispiece), his protagonists set out towards the celestial confines of a legendary territory, at the same time strange and familiar, beginning a labyrinthine and metalinguistic journey in search of a name and identity in a wild land.

These and other classic narratives will be evoked in this conversation about representations of social chaos through dystopias or apocalyptic accounts

QUEER DISSIDENCES IN FRENCH LITERATURE AND THE LIBERALIZATION OF CUSTOMS
NOV 13 » 5pm @ Youtube MixBrasil 🤟

Featuring Ricardo Lísias, Marcelo Ariel, Maurício Salles Vasconcelos . Mediation: Alexandre Rabelo

Even before Rimbaud, Verlaine and modern poetry, French literary culture has always been an example of moral liberality, mainly concerning sexuality. Sade, Proust, Jean Genet, Jean Cocteau and contemporary authors as Édouard Louis, Abdellah Taïa, Julie Maroh, Hervé Guibert are excellent examples of a queer literature with a surgical view of Western customs. In this conversation will be gathered the poet Marcelo Ariel, the writer Ricardo Lísias and the poet and researcher Maurício Salles Vasconcelos, professor at the University of São Paulo (USP).

In this pandemic year, and in the last movements of the Brazilian cultural dismantling, several male and female authors have given deviant literary responses to individual and subjective crossings, especially regarding the issue of mental health. DJUNA BARNES BEYOND THE BINARY DIVISIONS
NOV 15 » 5pm @ Youtube MixBrasil 🤟

Featuring Beatriz rgb . Mediation: Alexandre Rabelo

Writer, researcher and translator of Djuna Barnes’s works, Beatriz has dedicated zieself to the way this iconic American poet worked with renowned rhythms in poetry, but often resorting to infractions, this being her method of intervention. It thus demonstrates that her ironic style, even of pastiche, presented the degradation of lesbian women, mainly, within the context of false emancipation of her time. Her relationship with the literary canon and lifestyle has put Barnes at the center of discussions about non-binary perspectives.

AUDRE LORDE IN BRAZIL
NOV 17 » 5pm @ Youtube MixBrasil 🤟

Featuring Tatiana Nascimento, Cidinha da Silva . Mediation: Alexandre Rabelo

In recent years, Brazilian publishing sector has seen the emergence of studies and translations on the great Caribbean-American writer Audre Lord, feminist, womanist, lesbian and civil rights activist. Her relationship with these themes and also with religions of African origin, as a form of resistance in the constitution of new narratives, is also at the center of the poetics and research of two outstanding Brazilian authors, Tatiana Nascimento and Cidinha da Silva, gathered here for this important debate on the possible intersections between American and Brazilian literature.

NORTHEASTERN QUEER LOOKS
NOV 18 » 5pm @ Youtube MixBrasil 🤟

Featuring Itamar Vieira Junior, Marco Severo . Mediation: Alexandre Rabelo

If it is true that we follow the insurgency of a new and fertile phase of Northeastern literatures, we also see among many prominent authors in this trend the presence of a queer look, whether in the representation of LGBTQIA+ characters in Northeastern crossings, or in subjective spills or silences by people marked by land patriarchy, street markets, uncertain paths or new experiences linked to urban way of life problems, quite growning in recent decades. For this conversation, we will count on the presence of remarkable authors in this path.

NOV 19 » 5pm @ Youtube MixBrasil 🤟

Featuring Helena Vieira . Mediation: Paulo Salvetti

In recent years, Brazilian bookstores have received many theoretical publications, in the field of human sciences and critical thinking, regarding the
LGBTQIA+ community. From northern hemisphere classics as Butler or Preciado to new publications by queer decolonial thinkers, a growing interest from readers around this production is visible. To give us an overview of this segment, we will have researcher Helena Vieira, noted for her courses on

TRANSMEDIA QUEER POETRY
NOV 20 » 5pm @ Youtube MixBrasil 🤟

Featuring Bobby Baq, Arthur Moura Campos . Mediation: Alexandre Rabelo

When poetry crosses the book media and reaches new platforms, provoking encounters with other arts. The strength of this transmedia poetics is at the basis of the experiments with collage and poetry carried out by Bobby Baq, or in the transpositions between the printed paper linearity and the poetic multiplicity that could come up in the performative intervention with information technologies, as suggested by the work of Arthur Moura Campos. In this meeting, these transpoetic voices speak of their encounters and discoveries in this hybrid art, so connected to the new times..

PRINTEMPS LITTÉRAIRE: REFUGEES AND THE BOOK AS RESISTANCE
NOV 21 » 5pm @ Youtube MixBrasil 🤟

Featuring Leonardo Tonus . Mediation: Alexandre Rabelo

One of the most emerging issues in the research and literary militancy of the poet, teacher and cultural agitator Leonardo Tonus has been the publication of narratives by LGBTQIA+ writers as refugees. This important meeting marks a happy collaboration between the event led by Tonus, Printemps Littéraire, the largest program for disseminating Brazilian literature abroad, and Mix Literário, sensitive to the demand of our community to welcome and digest the main axes of queer literature out of Brazil. With his notorious sensitivity to address this conjunction of confrontations, Leonardo will present us with important authors’ works.
